Chapter 6.

The dance is conservative force. It is never unchanged, but it is never gone. The chapter said how some countries effected each other in terms of recreating and maintaining dance.

There are so many cultures, consequently, there so many form of dances. The two cultures being combined, it should produce new culture, therefore, new form of dance should be followed.

The culture will be changed or will be disappeared. The dance will be changed or never disappeared. It is just reformed. The dance will remix each other to create new form. This is conservative force of DANCE.

There will be made new form of dances further and further because It is already part of our 'new world'.

5th Movie Reaction Paper

Hawng-jin-yi is the best Korean geisha at that time. Even though she is low society level, her skill of dance, writing, and drawing etc.. are the best in Korea even better than nobles, so that many higher level nobles tried to court her every time. That is because she is smart, talent, and beautiful as well. she was a role model of women at that era and she deserved it.

This drama is dramatized her life, love, and how she maintain or living to against rules of that age. I have watched it before, but I did not think about dance and culture somethings like that. However, when I watch it, I am really concerned with how to dance, how to live at that time etc. It was studied historical researches already. That is why the details of dances, costumes, and systems of gi-bang or somethings like that.

Hwang-jin-yi, she is so many time dramatized by many writers or directors. Although they did dramatized just one girl, each has different stories by them. That is we know she is really the best dancer, poet, and painter. This drama is just one of them, but It has very detail how to dance, their rules, how to live. Therefore, It is very useful drama to know Hawng-jin-yi, not at all, but even a little bit. At least, it could be made you interesting with about the dance.

Shall We Dance? (Japanese Version. & American Remake Version)

I am not sure but I think I have watched this movie around three times. Surprisingly, it gives me something new every time when I have watched it.
Of course, the more I watch it, I can be better heartwarming than before. I am getting mature, I have accumulated my background knowledge.

This movie has very detail of many form of dances. It says how to dance a little bit, and to demonstrate that characters are becoming bigger and bigger to take part of dance. When I watched this movie, I was feeling I want to learn how to dance which are introduced it or what main character did dance. Actually, when I was in University, I had danced dance sports. Sadly, I would not feel that it was very good or attractive activity for me. However, I really want to learn how to dance.

What I feel other thing after watching movie, I agree with that the dance can be changed dancer's mind. In my opinion, The dancing is very active performance with music, and it can be synchronized dancer and dancer's partner with music. They could feel where they move, how much they beat their heartbeat something like that. It really makes them like - mind each other.

After watching this movie, I really remind to learn how to dance, and I truly want to feel that dancer and partner would feel like that they belong together. I will try to do dance hopefully.

Compare with Japanese and American

I prefer to recommend Japanese version to watch in personal. The heroin of Japanese is much more fitter than Lopez, for example, she has a sad story from Blackpool in original, but american movie said about that a little bit. Because of the story, it makes more focusing on the relationship between main characters and we know that why she did to hero.

The atmosphere of Japanese version is a tranquil mood and pleasantly plain in the whole movie, but American version is glitzy mood and more active atmosphere, for instance, when they go to dance at dance club, they go to party of ballroom dance in Japanese version, on the other hand, they go to club which we know the place in american version. I think American movie is released later than Japanese movie, so they would find the fitted place, and they think that the club is right place in terms of American culture.

The American version is some different scenes from original. Why the guy tried to go to dance school is same reason which the guy saw the beautiful girl in dance school, so guy wanted to see her, but the guy in Japanese version is more shier than American one.

What they meet at dance school had expressed differently as well that when guy is staring at woman is more lovelier and shier in Japanese one than American one. In my opinion, this is different cultural aspect that how to handle their feeling between Asian and American.

In terms of characters, the original represented character which co-worker of hero is dancing everywhere, and he is big part of the Japanese one, but another co-worker is not the same as Japanese even he is not funny. In addition, the partner who dance with hero love to dance and so passionate person when she dances. However, partner who in American version is not big part of movie and do not lead the flow of story.

The ending scene which is Important part of movie in American version is totally distinct from original, and I love original ending scene. In Japanese version, hero and heroin are dancing in her farewell party for leaving to participate dance competition in Blackpool, and it is very excited that when she choose the partner, he would be there with spot light, and the movie is end. This is give us aftertaste like heartwarming, because we could imagine what they will do after party. On the other hand, In American version, hero goes to meet his wife which is the most beautiful scene in the movie, and then he goes to the party to dance with her. After that, the movie says what the characters do after party. That is all. I am wondering that why did it show what they did or was? It is american style how to tell the ending I think.

Chapter 5.

Ballet and Kabuki have been performing since so long time ago. They have a lot of history, culture, and traits their own. It is a very valuable legacies.

In case of Korea, there are many traditional dance form of dance, but there is no specific theater of them for performing. Even they are disappearing people who can do traditional dace now a days, how can be the theater existed where they can be performed 'classical dance'?

Ballet which is not traditional Korean dance is performed by so many Korean people and they want to perform it. Even there are Ballet theaters in Korea. However, people who can perform traditional Korean dance are decreasing now because many young people think that it is too old to dance contemporary. It is misunderstand and wrong thinking.

Kabuki is very old and traditional form of dance from Japan. it is still popular dance in the world so many foreigners go to Japan to watch Kabuki. It is so different treat of traditional dance from Korea.

We must be keeping traditional Korean dances and promote them to watch from foreigners and to be remained 'classical'.
